THE JESUS PORTRAIT OF AMORC

Being AMORC an organization that (apart from Rosicrucian) also pretends to be Christian, AMORC promotes Jesus; but surely in order to make more money, instead of just telling its members to take whatever portrait of Jesus there is, Spencer Lewis (the founder of AMORC) claimed to have painted a portrait of Jesus and that is the portrait that AMORC has been selling.

Since its inception AMORC has sold this portrait in different sizes, as evidenced by this advertisement that appeared on its magazine The American Rosae Crucis, June 1916, page 31:

Below I put the advertising that AMORC published on its 1951 catalog about the products it sold at that time, so that its followers would buy this portrait:

The text says:

« A beautiful replica of the large oil painting of the Master Jesus which hangs in the initiation chamber of the Supreme Temple may now be had. We have had an art photographer make a very fine photograph, in color, of the painting, which registers the beautiful expression and the mystic, Aryan character of the Great Master.

This portrait is a natural color reproduction of the original painting. It is on heavy art paper, size 8’’ x 10’’, and pricing one dollar each. This will make an inspiring and beautiful picture for your home or sanctum. Postage prepaid. »

Below I put the advertising that AMORC published on its 1962 catalog:

The text says:

I have serious doubts that Spencer Lewis really painted this portrait and I suspect that he rather asked an artist to paint it and Lewis took credit for it.

And this portrait also revealed the dark side of AMORC since when the United States Army invaded Panama, the following photo was taken of General Manuel Antonio Noriega's office:

Showing with it that this ruthless dictator was a member of AMORC, something that was later confirmed by the ex-Imperator of AMORC, Gary L. Stewart.
